March 12th, 2013 – Who wouldn’t like a light show with their cocktail? Even if the cocktail is 20-ish bucks or so. Wunderbar is a sleek, multi-level lounge experience situated in the W Hotel Montreal, where development company BPC (the same cats who did Skybar Miami Beach and Garden Of Ono in New York City) created and now operate the chic establishment. The spot is riddled with color because of a sweeping light fixture that flows over the space and down the wall. Depending on the night, the fixture will light up in various color arrangements – setting the mood for whatever tunes the DJ is spinning.
The design team at BPC created an abstract and modern interpretation of Montreal’s four distinctive seasons and magnificent natural surroundings. This interpretation manifested in the interior deign in the form of a massive light fixture which starts in the ‘sky’ and falls to the ‘ground’. Adjacent from the light fixture is a long wall of silver chain beads that create a unique effect when it reflects the changing colors of the light wall. With the light fixture, the lounge can go from being a rainbow wonderland, to a soothing monochromatic environment with the alteration of a few quick settings.
